Heather Pavlech, DVM
Dr. Pavlech graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, and completed an internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists. There, she was mentored by board-certified specialists in emergency and critical care, medicine, surgery, neurology, cardiology and oncology. Upon completion of her internship, Dr. Pavlech remained at Garden State Veterinary Specialists as an emergency doctor. In this position, she received and treated her own emergency and critical patients, as well as supervised patients under the interns’ care. In 2015, Dr. Pavlech, a native of Granby, returned to Connecticut to open Avon Veterinary Emergency Referral.
Laura Pavlech, DVM, MSLS
Dr. Pavlech graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, and completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital. After her internship, Dr. Pavlech pursued further training as a resident in small animal nutrition at North Carolina State University Veterinary Hospital. In this position, she gained a deeper understanding of the role that nutrition plays in both healthy and ill animals. As both an intern and a resident, Dr. Pavlech worked closely with board-certified specialists in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, surgery, neurology, cardiology and nutrition. Dr. Pavlech enjoys working with her sister to ensure that all aspects of patient care are addressed at Avon Veterinary Emergency Referral.
Michael Gay, DVM
Dr. Gay graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997 and completed an internship at Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut in West Hartford. Upon completion of his internship, Dr. Gay worked as an emergency doctor at several veterinary specialty hospitals, learning from board-certified specialists in emergency and critical care, medicine and surgery. In 2002, Dr. Gay opened his own veterinary emergency hospital, a place that rapidly became trusted for delivering high-quality emergency care to owners and their pets. As an emergency doctor, Dr. Gay recognized the importance of anesthesia and pain control in critically ill dogs and cats, and pursued specialty training in anesthesia and analgesia (pain relief) at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Gay combines years of experience as an emergency doctor with advanced training in and knowledge in anesthesia to provide outstanding care for his patients at Avon Veterinary Emergency Referral.
